Save Earth Sunday :)

Save earth Sunday is an event I made to help the planet. Every week on Sunday I will post eco tips we can all use daily to help impact the earth. Feel free to post your own eco tip(s) as well and don't forget to leave me a link to your post so I can do it too.

This weeks tip:
Hundreds of thousands of sea animals die annually from consuming plastic shopping bags. But many recycling facilities don't accept them. So when making a purchase, bring along a reusable bag, like a cotton tote, and ask to have your items be put in there instead.

Well that's all for now folks, I hope you have a great Sunday!  Peace to you all and stay warm. :)
xoxo Veronica.

Follow Friday/Blog Hop

Book Blogger Hop
This weeks Blog Hop Q:
"Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?"
- Yes, I seem to get really bored with it but I'm too lazy to change it so it's going to be "read books have fun" for a while I'm afraid.

Hello everyone, I hope that you're all having a fantastic Friday!
This weeks question is:

Q. Share your current fav television show! Tell us a bit about it...

 - Right now I have two favorite shows! They're both super awesome and addictive. I'll start off with a show called Nikita. (Thursdays @ 9 EST on The CW)

This show is amazing and very original! I've never seen anything like it. The show is very action packed and the main character is a girl who can definitely take care of herself.

Here is a little summary I found online:
When she was a deeply troubled teenager, Nikita (Maggie Q, "Live Free or Die Hard," "Mission Impossible 3") was rescued from death row by a secret U.S. agency known only as Division, who faked her execution and told her she was being given a second chance to start a new life and serve her country. What they didn't tell her was that she was being trained as a spy and assassin. Throughout her grueling training at Division, Nikita never lost her humanity, even falling in love with a civilian. When her fiancé was murdered, Nikita realized she had been betrayed and her dreams shattered by the only people she thought she could trust, so she did what no one else before her had been able to do: she escaped. Now, after three years in hiding, Nikita is seeking retribution and making it clear to her former bosses that she will stop at nothing to expose and destroy their covert operation.

p.s. if you want to see my other favorite show just expand the post. (:

Going Too Far by Jennifer Echols *1 out of 5 stars*

My Thoughts:
After reading all the great reviews for this book, I am sad to say that it really disappointed me. I couldn't get into the book or relate to any of the characters. Plus I found Meg to be so dramatic and annoying and no matter how much I tried to like her I just couldn't. I didn't even feel any connection between John and Meg. I also couldn't believe that they made an appointment to have sex! I am just so flabbergasted and disappointed in this book that I don't want to look at it anymore.

Here is the synopsis:
All Meg has ever wanted is to get away. Away from high school. Away from her backwater town. Away from her parents who seem determined to keep her imprisoned in their dead-end lives. But one crazy evening involving a dare and forbidden railroad tracks, she goes way too far...and almost doesn't make it back.
John made a choice to stay. To enforce the rules. To serve and protect. He has nothing but contempt for what he sees as childish rebellion, and he wants to teach Meg a lesson she won't soon forget. But Meg pushes him to the limit by questioning everything he learned at the police academy. And when he pushes back, demanding to know why she won't be tied down, they will drive each other to the edge -- and over....

Waiting on Wednesday #5?

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by breaking the spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I'm waiting on a book called, Psych Major Syndrome by  Alicia Thompson. This book is already out but I'm waiting until I finish some other books first before I read this one.
Here's the low down from Goodreads:

Using the skills you've learned so far in Introduction to Psychology, please write a brief self-assessment describing how things are going in your freshman year.Presenting Concerns:
The Patient, Leigh Nolan (that would be me), has just started her first year at Stiles College. She has decided to major in psychology (even though her parents would rather she study Tarot cards, not Rorschach blots).
Patient has always been very good at helping her friends with their problems, but when it comes to solving her own...not so much.
Patient has a tendency to overanalyze things, particularly when the opposite sex is involved. Like why doesn't Andrew, her boyfriend of over a year, ever invite her to spend the night? Or why can't she commit to taking the next step in their relationship? And why does his roommate Nathan dislike her so much? More importantly, why did Nathan have a starring role in a much-more-than-friendly dream?
Aggravating factors include hyper-competitive fellow psych majors, a professor who’s badly in need of her own psychoanalysis, and mentoring a middle-school-aged girl who thinks Patient is, in a word, naive.
Diagnosis:
Psych Major Syndrome

Eco tip of the week #3

Save earth Sunday is an event I made to help the planet. Every week on Sunday I will post eco tips we can all use daily to help impact the earth. Feel free to post your own eco tip as well and don't forget to leave me a link to your post so I can do it too.
Stop Idling:
Every moment you spend idling your car's engine means needlessly wasting gas, as well as rougher wear on your vehicle. Idling for more than 10 seconds wastes more gas than is needed for startup. Overall, Americans idle away 2.9 billion gallons of gas a year, worth around $78.2 billion.

That's all for today, I hope you guys are having a fantastic start of the week.

P.S. Anyone else excited for Pretty Little Liars tonight?!?! I know I am :))))

Follow Friday#2/ Blog Hop

Hello everyone I hope that you're all having a fantastic weekend! :)
Sorry I haven't been updating lately, I've been applying for scholarships still.... It seems to take me forever to just get the energy to even think about filling them out. But good news I am now on vacation. Hooray! So hopefully I will be able to get things done. Anyways moving on here is my Follow Friday post hosted by Parajunkee.

This weeks question is:

If you are a fan of Science Fiction what is your favorite book? If you haven't read Science Fiction before...any inkling to? Anything catch your eye?

I would have to say that my favorite sci fi book is Wizards First Rule, by Terry Goodkind. Although I'm not much of a Sci-fi junkie, I was first introduced to this series when I saw the TV adaptation for it. The TV series was called, Legend of the Seeker, I LOVED the TV series! I thought it was fantastic and awesome and amazing. The whole plot was just breath taking. And if you haven't seen it I would suggest it to everyone in the whole wide world! And because I enjoyed the TV series so much I decided to read the book. I thought the book was enjoyable but not as great as the TV series. :( I'm still glad I read it though!
( I like this cover of the book way more then the original because it shows the characters from the show!)
Here is the synopsis from the book:

In the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father, a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, appears in Richard Cypher's forest sanctuary seeking help-and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence.
In a dark age when it takes courage to live, and more than mere courage to challenge those who hold dominion, Richard and Kahlan must take up that challenge or become the next victims. Beyond awaits a bewitching land where even the beat of their hearts could betray them. Yet, Richard fears nothing so much as what secrets his sword might reveal about his own soul. Falling in love would destroy them - for reasons Richard can't imagine and Kahlan dare not tell him.
In their darkest hour, hunted relentlessly, tormented by treachery and loss, Kahlan cals upon Richard to reach beyond his sword - to invoke within himself something more noble. Neither knows that the rules of battle have just changed-or that their time has run out.
This is the beginning. One book. One Rule. Witness the birth of a legend.

( and here is a cover of the tv show just for kicks!)
That's all for now, Goodbye everyone!

Waiting on Wednesday #4

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by breaking the spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I am waiting on an upcoming book called Ripple by Mandy Hubbard. This book is set to come out July 21, 2011. I'm really excited to read it and I'm really glad it's coming out in the summer!

Synopsis:
For two years, I have not killed.
But tonight, I stand in the shadows behind a tree, watching as a boy skips rocks on the lake.
He shouldn’t be here.
Lexi is cursed with a dark secret. The water calls to her, draws her in, forces her to sing her deadly song to unsuspecting victims. If she succumbs, she kills. If she doesn’t, the pain is unbearable. To keep herself and those she cares about safe, she shuts herself off, refusing to make friends or fall in love—again. Because the last time she fell in love with a boy, he ended up dead.
Then Lexi meets Cole. Against her better judgment, she finds herself opening up again, falling in love when she knows she shouldn’t. But when she’s offered the chance to finally live a normal life, she learns that the price she must pay to be free of her curse is giving him up.
In Ripple, Mandy Hubbard spins a sea-ravaged tale of melancholy beauty, and the choices one girl makes between land and waves, love and freedom, her future—and her heart.

Save Earth Sunday #2

Save earth Sunday is an event I made to help the planet. Every week on Sunday I will post eco tips we can all use daily to help impact the earth. Feel free to post your own eco tip as well and don't forget to leave me a link to your post so I can do it too.

Tip#2:  Wash Your Laundry in Cold Water:
An easy way to clean green is to turn the dial on your washing machine to cold. Most loads don't need hot water, and 90% of the energy used by washing machines goes into heating. The higher the water temperature, the higher the cost to you and the planet.

Thats all for now, have a great Sunday everyone.
love,
Veronica

Mostly Good Girls by Leila Sales 4 out of 5 stars****

Yay I am finally done reading this book!!  :) So here it s my review weeks later... (sorry it took so long. I wish I had magical speed reading powers, but sadly I don't)

Here are my thoughts:

I thought this book was hilarious! Violet, the main character thinks the strangest things(in a good way). The book takes us on a journey to an all girls school, where the pressures of living up to others expectations mean everything, especially to 16 year old Violet. Will Violet and her best friend Katie have what it takes to make their junior year an epic one?
I really enjoyed the ending and Violet was such a character. It was fun seeing the world through her eyes but also a little stressful because all she cared about about studying.(which reminded me of all the homework I had)
Anyways I would suggest this book to anyone who wants a good laugh.
Over and out guys,
Veronica xoxo

Waiting on Wednesday #3

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by breaking the spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I am eagerly awaiting the release of an upcoming book called, Steel by Carrie Vaughn. This book is set to be released on March 15, 2011. (yay one month!!) :)

Here is the summary (which sounds super awesome):
It was a slender length of rusted steel, tapered to a point at one end and jagged at the other, as if it had broken. A thousand people would step over it and think it trash, but not her.
This was the tip of a rapier.
Sixteen-year-old Jill has fought in dozens of fencing tournaments, but she has never held a sharpened blade. When she finds a corroded sword piece on a Caribbean beach, she is instantly intrigued and pockets it as her own personal treasure.
The broken tip holds secrets, though, and it transports Jill through time to the deck of a pirate ship. Stranded in the past and surrounded by strangers, she is forced to sign on as crew. But a pirate’s life is bloody and brief, and as Jill learns about the dark magic that brought her there, she forms a desperate scheme to get home—one that risks everything in a duel to the death with a villainous pirate captain.
Time travel, swordplay, and romance combine in an original high-seas adventure from New York Times bestseller Carrie Vaughn.

My thoughts:
I really can't wait to read this book! The cover look so good too.  :)

Feel free to leave me your WoW too. I'd love to see what you're reading.

Only the Good Spy Young Stars by Ally Carter 5 out of 5!! *****

I hope everyone had a nice Monday today. It seems to be taking me forever to finish reading those books so I am going to do an update on my favorite book in the Gallagher Series by Ally Carter. It's her most recent book released sometime last year called, Only the Good Spy Young. (I think all of her book titles are very creative!) For those of you who have already read this book there's going to be a 5th book as well! It should be out Jan/Feb of next year 2012!!! :))

My thoughts: This book was probably the best in the whole series and I'm not going to lie but the books were starting to bore me a bit but this one got hook, line, and sinker. I found it so be very refreshing and the whole romantic escapade is really starting to take off! I was very very excited about the ending as well, just fantastic! If you want to read this book but don't want to get through the entire series first, I suggest you just skip the rest and read this one. ( I honestly couldn't remember most of the other books anyways)

Here is the summary from Ally Carter's site:

Eco tip of the week #1

So to make my contribution to the planet, I will start posting weekly eco tips for you folks out there that care.  Feel free to post your own eco tips as well. Together we can change the world! :)

Tip #1:
75% of energy used to power computers worldwide is wasted as computers sit idle. So before leaving for school in the morning, make sure you turn off all computers, TVs, and other electronics.

Here are some other cool sites if you feel the need to do more:

Tree Hugger is one of the best environmental resources out there on the net. There are news, forums, and more. Under the "Take Action" section, find "How to Go Green." Here can be found tons of environmental tips and facts! You don't have to be a "tree hugger" to find this site useful!
