Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter Review

Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls, #1)Born at Midnight by C.C. Hunter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Summary from Goodreads:
One night Kylie Galen finds herself at the wrong party, with the wrong people, and it changes her life forever. Her mother ships her off to Shadow Falls—a camp for troubled teens, and within hours of arriving, it becomes painfully clear that her fellow campers aren’t just “troubled.” Here at Shadow Falls, vampires, werewolves, shapshifters, witches and fairies train side by side—learning to harness their powers, control their magic and live in the normal world.

Kylie’s never felt normal, but surely she doesn’t belong here with a bunch of paranormal freaks either. Or does she? They insist Kylie is one of them, and that she was brought here for a reason. As if life wasn’t complicated enough, enter Derek and Lucas. Derek’s a half-fae who’s determined to be her boyfriend, and Lucas is a smokin’ hot werewolf with whom Kylie shares a secret past. Both Derek and Lucas couldn’t be more different, but they both have a powerful hold on her heart.

Even though Kylie feels deeply uncertain about everything, one thing is becoming painfully clear—Shadow Falls is exactly where she belongs…

This book was super-awesome! It was a pot full of drama with a pinch of funny moments. This book kept me interested from the very beginning and there were no dull moments with these characters. Some parts even had me laughing out loud... I still chuckle just thinking about it. I stayed up until 4 a.m. to finish this book. It was so worth it. *insert thumbs up here*
The book is about a 16-year-old girl named Kylie, and she is not having a very good week; her boyfriend breaks up with her, her grandmother dies, and her parents are getting a divorce... talk about a mess. To top it all off her mother sends her to Shadow Falls, a camp for troubled teens, after she is caught at a party that is busted by the cops. She soon learns that Shadow Fall is not an ordinary camp, it is a camp for mystical creatures to learn more about themselves and each other. This reminded me of the Percy Jackson series (which is awesome), but just in the sense that they go to a camp full of different creatures.
Anyway Kylie, just wants to be a normal human girl, but the others insists that she is one of them.
I enjoyed getting to know the main character, though she tends to cry a lot, she is also surprisingly witty and funny at times. As for the whole love triangle thing, I think it is believable. You can tell that she cares for both of the guys in a way that is not random or spur of the moment. She could end up with anyone at this point. *fingers crossed for Lucas though* Can't wait to get my hands on the next book! :DD
