My Fair Godmother Book Review 4 out of 5 stars****

Hey everyone, I hope you guys are having a fantastic Saturday night! :) I haven't been able to do a review in a while so I am glad I can do this one. Hooray!!
Alright lets get down to business folks.

Book: My Fair Godmother
Author: Janette Rallison
Published January 6th 2009 by Walker Books for Young Readers

Synopsis:
After her boyfriend dumps her for her older sister, sophomore Savannah Delano wishes she could find a true prince to take her to the prom. Enter Chrissy (Chrysanthemum) Everstar: Savannah’s gum-chewing, cell phone–carrying, high heel-wearing Fair Godmother. Showing why she’s only Fair—because she’s not a very good fairy student—Chrissy mistakenly sends Savannah back in time to the Middle Ages, first as Cinderella, then as Snow White. Finally she sends Tristan, a boy in Savannah’s class, back instead to turn him into her prom-worthy prince. When Savannah returns to the Middle Ages to save Tristan, they must team up to defeat a troll, a dragon, and the mysterious and undeniably sexy Black Knight. Laughs abound in this clever fairy tale twist from a master of romantic comedy.

My Thoughts:

I thought this book was delightful. It was a fast-paced read that kept me laughing and turning the pages until the very end. I was very surprised that I enjoyed it so much because I randomly picked it up in the library. This modern day fairy tale has a mix of Cinderella and Snow White incorporated into it with a twist. I've never read any books with fairy godmothers ( or should I say fair godmothers) before but after reading this I may need to find more. haha Anyways if you're looking for a fun read, I highly suggest giving this one a try.

-Well that's all for now. Bye everyone!

My thoughts: This book kinda reminds me of The Goddess Test? Idk they sounds kind of similar, maybe it's because of the mythology incorporated in it, but I love mythology so I will definitely give this a go. Plus the cover looks beautiful!

Save Earth Sunday :) and an awesome giveaway from Book Lungs

Hey everyone, I hope you're all having a terrific Sunday! I just found out that Book Lungs is having a HUGE giveaway so if you want to enter just click on the link here: Giveaway.

Save earth Sunday is an event I made to help the planet. Every week on Sunday I will post eco tips we can all use daily to help impact the earth. Together we can change the world! Feel free to post your own eco tip(s) as well and don't forget to leave me a link to your post so I can do it too.

Now moving onto the Earth. :) I just wanted to let you guys know that Earth Day is coming up on April 22, 2011. ( yay right after Easter!) So if you haven't already, I encourage you to try to think of a project you can do with your family, friends, community or by yourself to give back to the planet.

Here is a good story for Earth Day: An old man was planting a tree, then somebody asked him why he plants that which he cannot live long enough to enjoy its fruit. The old man answered; 'just as my grandparents planted a tree to which I've been nourished, so I plant for my grandchildren.' So people should not be merely "cutters" of trees but should plant them for the next generation to enjoy.

 That's it for today guys!
Love,
Veronica

follow friday

Hey everyone, I hope you're all having a great day because "life is meant to be lived." -Eleanor Roosevelt. :)
This weeks question from Follow Friday is:

Q. Do you have anyone that you can discuss books with IRL? Tell us about him/her.
A. I try to discuss books with my sister and cousins, but sadly we haven't been able to because everyone is so busy and we just read different books. I think I may have to join a book club or something if I want to talk about my latest read. (so if you recommend any sites or clubs, please let me know.) At first I used to hate reading, I literally despised it. But then when Twilight first came out my older sister and cousins convinced me to give it a go and luckily I did. We probably kept talking about that book for a few years afterward!

xoxo Veronica.

"Outside of books, what is your guilty pleasure?"
Answer:
Outside of books I would have to say playing the piano or other various instruments (guitar, ukulele, harmonica, ocarina, clarinet... etc) is my "guilty" pleasure. ( idk why it's called "guilty" because I don't feel bad while doing it) Also playing tennis. I'd love to know what you guys enjoy doing as well so don't forget to drop me a link to your post.
p.s. I am also having a giveaway right now. ( You can find out more in the link right under my header)

Save Earth Sunday :)

HELLO EVERYONE! Today was such a beautiful day. :) I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

Save earth Sunday is an event I made to help the planet. Every week on Sunday I will post eco tips we can all use daily to help impact the earth. Together we can change the world! Feel free to post your own eco tip(s) as well and don't forget to leave me a link to your post so I can do it too.

This weeks tip:
Did you know that Americans buy 28 billion single-serving plastic water bottles every year? What's worse is that 80% of them end up in landfills, according to the Container Recycling Institute. To meet the nation's demand for bottled water, over 1.5 million barrels of oil is used annually, which is enough fuel for 100,000 cars to run for an entire year, the Earth Policy Institute estimates.
(crazy stuff isn't it!?)

Here are some pictures of plants that planted today! :)

Awesome chalk flowers ;)

The Goddess Test book review ****4 out of 5 stars

My thoughts:
I just finished this book yesterday night and the ending took my breath away. This is a novel that is definitely worth reading, plus it's incorporated with the myth of Persephone and Hades(yay). When I first read about this book I was a bit skeptical about Hades, being with the main character because of his persona in Greek mythology, but this book really took me by surprise and made it very enjoyable to read. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
Synopsis:
It's always been just Kate and her mom—and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear her mother won't live past the fall.
Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld—and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.
Kate is sure he's crazy—until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride, and a goddess.

Hello world, I hope everyone is having a great end of the week. :)

This weeks Question:
"DO YOU JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER?"

Answer:
Though I try not to, I'm sad to say that I do. Every time I'm at the library or a book store my eyes seem to linger a pretty/ interesting cover. (I really dislike covers with the persons face on it...idk why)
What about you guys!?

First: Reduce

The critical first step of waste prevention has been overshadowed by a focus on recycling. Please help to promote a greater awareness of the importance of the "Reduce" part of the Reduce-Reuse-Recycle mantra. For a great overview of how raw materials and products move around the world, see the video The Story of Stuff.
  • Simplify: Simplify your life as much as possible. Only keep belongings that you use/enjoy on a regular basis. By making the effort to reduce what you own, you will naturally purchase less/create less waste in the future. For information on voluntary simplicity, check out Voluntary Simplicity Websites. Learn more through books on voluntary simplicity.
  • Reduce Purchases: In general, think before you buy any product - do you really need it? How did the production of this product impact the environment and what further impacts will there be with the disposal of the product (and associated packaging materials)? When you are thinking about buying something, try the 30-Day Rule -- wait 30 days after the first time you decide you want a product to really make your decision. This will eliminate impulse buying.
  • White Pages Delivery Opt-In PetitionThe Compact: Join or form a Compact in your area - groups all across the globe committing for 12 months to not buy any new products (see lower right sidebar for groups).
  • Replace Disposables: Wherever possible, replace disposable products with reusable ones (i.e., razor, food storage, batteries, ink cartridges (buy refill ink), coffee filters, furnace or air conditioner filters, etc.).
  • Buy Used: Buy used products whenever possible. Some sources:
